Mid Autumn Celebration at Ipoh Old Town
Our Mid-Autumn event 【夜游旧街场，老街过中秋】had concluded successfully in Ipoh Old Town, drawing nearly a hundred participants, including local residents, Malay friends, and international visitors. The event was a heartwarming early celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, bringing families and friends together under the full moon.
Mooncake Making at Niang Republic
Families gathered at Niang Republic to learn how to craft traditional mooncakes. The hands-on experience allowed participants to savor these sweet treats while soaking in the relaxed atmosphere of Ipoh Old Town at night. It was a wonderful moment where tradition met community, as everyone bonded over the art of mooncake making.
Cultural Performances and Storytelling
Beneath the old trees, teachers-in-training brought the evening to life with a unique blend of theatre and traditional storytelling. The vibrant performance recreated the nostalgic feel of gathering under the trees for ancient tales, adding a layer of cultural richness to the evening.
Tea Experience with Legend of Tea
At the heart of the event, Legend of Tea hosted a special tea-sharing session at our own Hilltown Tea Enterprise (山城六堡茶莊), offering an unforgettable tea-tasting experience. Families enjoyed the rich, mellow flavors of Liubao tea while learning the refined art of brewing the perfect cup. This session celebrated the long-standing tradition of tea sharing, fostering connections across generations.
Participants also had the chance to brew their own tea outdoors, in the back alleys of Old Town beneath hanging lanterns. Children were especially excited to try brewing tea for the first time, proudly serving it to their families and friends.
Lantern Tour of Ipoh Old Town
With lanterns in hand, participants walked through the brightly lit streets of Ipoh Old Town, guided by the expert team from P Lab. The tour unveiled the hidden gems of the town, offering a new perspective on the beauty and history of this cherished heritage site.
A Musical Finale
The night concluded at Tin Corner 39, where the enchanting sounds of a night concert echoed through the streets. It was a fitting end to an unforgettable Mid-Autumn celebration, organized in collaboration with various Ipoh community teams.
A Night to Remember
This Mid-Autumn event not only celebrated a cherished festival but also united different cultures and communities in a celebration of tradition, storytelling, and tea.
